Chrysanthemums are so gorgeous especially the curled petals. We use this flower for celebrating birthdays because its ancient pronunciation in Chinese represents for longevity.

I used to watch so many famous artists paint. Now whenever I paint, those particular memories will shoot right into my mind - either what they said or what they did. Each artist has his own method and habit to paint, it's very interesting although we all dealt with the same subject or style.

I use rice paper to paint. The most difficult to know is how much water and color or ink to use on the brush before I touch it to the paper. Each type of paper has its own character just like individual, so each time l change to a different type of paper I have to deal with its unique "temper".

A family is pleasure boating on the river. They are served with tea by the boatman's daughter. Years ago, when we visited my father's old home town in China, we took the boat on the West Lake just like this; very relaxing but extremely ancient to me.

Morning Beauty
We hiked a lot when we were in Asia and this was a scene that we saw early one summer morning. There was a breeze through the bamboos with two cranes playing in the middle of the creek. It's just so beautiful as a painting.
